A user-led organisation providing support nationwide
Established in 1983 MDF The BiPolar Organisation is a national user-led organisation and registered charity for people whose lives are affected by manic depression.
MDF The BiPolar Organisation aims to enable people affected by manic depression (bi-polar) to take control of their lives through the services that we offer members. These include:
- self help groups
- information and publications
- employment advice
- self management training programme
- 24-hour legal advice line for employment, legal, benefits and debt issues
- travel insurance scheme.
We also work to provide new services, which reflect the needs of our members.
We seek to combat the stigma and prejudice experienced by those affected by manic depression:
- We campaign for improved services and give members a forum to express their views and experiences.
- We work to develop partnerships with other organisations concerned with mental health.
- We work to educate employers, health care professionals and local communities about manic depression.
